The Epson Perfection 4490 Photo Scanner was my choice when I needed something to help me create new pictures and restore some of the older ones that I have at home. When I first started to check scanners out I was amazed to see how many different ones are now on the market. Many of these had far more features than I needed. What I was looking for was simply a good quality flatbed scanner that could help me as I attempted to organize the many photos and slides that I had. When I found the Epson Perfection 4490 I knew that it would be perfect for my personal needs.

Now that I have been using my Perfection 4490 Photo Scanner for over a month I am still pleased with how well it is handling the work. The Perfection 4490 has constantly produced some clear, quality results for me. Many of my friends are amazed when they discover how little I paid for this flatbed scanner. This is not one of the newest models on the market, but it is certainly one of the most reliable. The Epson Perfection 4490 Photo Scanner has a high resolution capability that delivers the sharp pictures I want. With a 4800 x 9600 dpi resolution and a 3.4 Dmax the Scanner 4490 has the ability to handle all of the material that I want scanned. I am now able tweak, restore and refresh any of my old photos or slides in just a short period of time.

The set up and the installation of the Perfection 4490 Photo proved to be uncomplicated and quick. This was a welcome relief to someone who has spent long hours trying to install other devices in the past. The size is a little bit cumbersome so I would suggest that you clear some space, but you will find that the results are worth the effort.

I have found that the Epson Perfection 4490 Photo Scanner is extremely easy to use. The scanning options have several different levels depending on what type of task needs to be performed. I was able to work with all of the options and discover which ones would give me the best results. Having the operating buttons located right on the front is just one more nice little convenience that I appreciate.

The Digital Ice feature is part of the Epson Perfection 4490 photo scanner package that is used when working with film or slides. This software is able to clean up the dust and imperfections seen on slides and film. Since I had plenty of these items scattered about in desk drawers this was definitely a feature that I was anxious to use. I was pleased to discover that Digital Ice works well with even the older Kodachrome slides. It is able add enhancement and make them look better than ever. The Digital Ice feature even worked its magic on a number of slides I had that were worn and faded.
